Where We Work

Elephant Family currently works with eight local partner organisations in India, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. Wherever we work, we forge long-term partnerships, based on transparency and trust.

By securing wildlife corridors Elephant Family is reconnecting the forest homes of the Asian elephant - each corridor reconnects vital forest habitats that enable Asian elephants to move safely between feeding sites.

Conservation is about wildlife and nature but it is also about people. Every year an estimated 500 hundred people will die across Asia due to conflict with Asian elephants. As conservationists we work with local people to identify and reduce conflict situations between elephants and people. We also provide support to improve the wellbeing of captive elephants in Thailand and Sumatra.

We draw attention to the plight of Asian elephants, and the need for their protection whilst developing a variety of initiatives to uphold traditional beliefs surrounding elephants. These initiatives work by gaining the support and involvement of local people which is so crucial for conservation efforts.
