The Sumatran elephant is on the brink of extinction. Within a single generation they have lost half of their population. Their one big glimmer of hope is Aceh Province in the northwest.
The Aceh Government is pushing to finalise a new plan which will result in the rapid devastation of most of Aceh’s remaining lowland forests for logging, palm oil cultivation and mining.
This is one of the last strongholds for the critically endangered Sumatran elephant as well as orangutans, tigers and rhinos. The plans must be rejected or we will lose these incredible animals forever.
