Asian elephants require vast areas in which to roam, but with the spread of human settlements, plantations, farming, mining and railways, they are being marooned in ever-decreasing pockets of forest. Deprived of their habitat, elephant numbers are falling.
The Asian elephant is simply running out of space and time.
